-- aspirantExegesist [AE] dream!Cymoth has floated off to bed, but Lamia still feels wide awake, brooding over the problem of what to DO about Cymoth, and what the best course of action relative to her, relative to the others, relative to the game would be. She feels, strongly, the need to talk it out, but Kyarib isn't in his tower, isn't to be seen floating about easily, and at any rate has the wrong kind of stake in the matter, she feels. But there is one other... --
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] She floats up to Aascam's tower, and stares in at him thoughtfully for a moment. Then, furrowing her brows, she makes up her mind, and floats in. --
AE: {-}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] is thrashing around in his dream bed, a cold sweat is running off of his brow, and incoherent mumbles can be heard coming from him, though it's difficult to make out exactly what he is saying. The room's furnishings are spartan, save for a thick, soft carpet underfoot, though it is starting to show the signs of sweeps of use. --
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] She recognizes that carpet; logs the detail away for later, as she does with everything else in the room, from floor to ceiling -- including the very interesting writing scrawled over and over. Then she floats towards him, around his bed, and looks down at his thrashing. Then she grabs his long horn, holding his head in place, and rears back with her other to SMACK him across the face. --
AE: {- }
-- loanedAllegiance's [LA'S] eyes snap open as he gives a suprised shout. His eyes scan the ceiling of the room, and noticing Lamia's hand still gripping his longer horn he traces it back to it's source. --
LA: What'$ going on? Who ar€ ¥ou? Wh€r€ am I?"
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia smiles, a mixture of wryness, amusement, and sympathy. She withdraws her hand, and takes a step back. --
AE: {Good morning, Aascam. Guess?}
AE: {-}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] rubs the weariness from his eyes and glares at Lamia, pushing himself up into a sitting position on the bed. --
LA: "I am not in th€ mood. At a££. Who ar€ ¥ou?"
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] she chuckles, looking at him consideringly, wondering how much she could get away with. --
AE: {Welllll, well, well, Scammy -- your moods are soooo the boss of you, aren't they?}
AE: {Not even a tiny guess? A leeeeeeetle guess? For a favourite team mate?}
AE: {You usually LOVE question games!}
AE: {-}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] glares at Lamia, mouth pressed into a thin line. --
LA: "...Ar€thu$a. P£€a$ant m€€ting ¥ou h€r€ I $uppo$€."
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] The GRIN on Lamia's face is sudden, delighted, and sharply be-fanged. --
AE: {Saaaaaaame to you, Scammy. Any idea where you are? What were you dreaming? You were thrashing pretty hard!}
AE: {-}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] hunches over, putting his face in his hands. He stays silent for a moment, then raises his head to look at Lamia. --
LA: "...Nothing. Ju$t th€ norma£ bad dr€am$. Wh€r€ ar€ w€?"
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia tilts her head a bit, regarding him in a way no doubt akin to the ways in which talonbeasts regard their prey. --
AE: {The moon orbiting the ?lanet Derse -- the dark ?lanet. There's a moon that orbits a bright ?lanet, too -- ?rospit. When we're in the Medium, awake, our dream selves are asleep -- until we "wake" here. You're the last one u?, slee?y head.}
AE: {-}
LA: "That'$ ni¢€, but what do€$ it m€an? And iƒ ¥ou ar€n't going to giv€ m€ a $traight an$w€r ¥ou might a$ w€££ $how m€ around."
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] began pestering loanedAllegiance [LA] at 01:07 --
AE: {I'd be more than happy to show you around. But --}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia's face goes serious for a moment, as she looks out the window, towards Cymoth's tower. --
AE: {-- ...there's something you need to know about Cymoth.}
AE: {-}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] stands up suddenly. --
LA: "What?"
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] she looks a little troubled, in fact, and looks down. --
AE: {There are four of us on each planet's moon. You, me, Kyarib, and Cymoth are here; Taula, Ezreki, Lamia, and Skylar are there. But Cymmy's ... Different, here. Have you seen her recently? In the Medium, I mean.}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] watching him closely. --
AE: {-}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] swallows and looks away from Lamia. --
LA: "¥€$ I hav€. In ƒa¢t, I am ¢urr€nt£¥ in h€r £and, $£€€ping in h€r hiv€. $h€... £€t'$ ju$t $a¥ $h€ do€$n't £ook h€r b€$t at th€ mom€nt.
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia looks thoughtful. Says, a little carefully. --
AE: {I imagine she could probably use a boost from her Moirail, then.}
AE: {-}
LA: I know, I know. But thi$ i$ mor€ diƒƒi¢u£t than I thought it wou£d b€. I m€an hav€ ¥ou $€€n h€r? I a£mo$t thr€w up m¥ dig€$tion $a¢ ju$t £ooking at h€r. Not to m€ntion...
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] pauses for a moment, unsure if he should continue. --
LA: Hav€ ¥ou $€€n it? Th€... Vid€o?
LA: -
AE: {Video?}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Pure innocence. --
AE: {What video might that be, Scammy?}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] perhaps toooo innocent. --
AE: {-}
LA: Ar€thu$a, I am r€a££¥, *r€a££¥* not in th€ mood ƒor thi$ right now. Iƒ ¥ou know about it ju$t $a¥ it. Iƒ ¥ou don't, w€££ it'$ not important.
LA: At a££.
LA: -
AE: {It's only im?ortant if I've already seen it? Hmmmmmmmm.}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] she looks thoughtful. --
AE: {I suppose -- then -- it is im?ortant. }
AE: {- }
LA: ƒin€, what€v€r. It'$ important. Ju$t an$w€r th€ goddamn qu€$tion a£r€ad¥!
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] she rolllllllllllls her eyes. --
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] glares at her. --
LA: -
AE: {You are really not the shar?est tool in the shed today, Scammy. I said, it's only im?ortant if I've seen it; then, I said it's im?ortant. SO! Yes. Yes I have seen it. You got ?layed like a six-Caegar wind instrument.}
AE: {Go on. What were you going to say? "Not to mention"... what?}
AE: {-}
LA: It'$ ju$t... W€££ I gu€$$ ¥ou'v€ a£r€ad¥ noti¢€d that I'm not €xa¢t£¥ at a high point in m¥ £iƒ€ right now. I'v€ b€€n a¢ting £ik€ a ¢omp£€t€ ƒoo£, and thi$ who£€ aƒƒair ha$ ju$t op€n€d m¥ £ook$tub$ to it a££.
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] slumps. --
LA: I'm not ƒit to b€ a Bu$in€$$a$$in. I'm not ƒit to b€ a P€n¢i£ Puni$h€r! I m€an r€a££¥, what wa$ wrong with m€?
LA: I ju$t...
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] sighs. --
LA: Thi$ i$ $tupid, ¥ou w€r€ $a¥ing $om€thing about ¢¥moth?
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] she raises an eyebrow while he speaks, and then ... Looks perhaps a little sympathetic. Then, looking down, she sighs very quietly too. --
AE: {As I was saying -- the Cymoth here is different from the Cymoth in the Medium.}
AE: {She ... isn't a ghoul. She's whole, exce?t for -- well, except for her eye. And she has no memory of dying, reviving, entering the game, at all. And I think... I think that if she were to wake up, in the Medium, as you and I have? That the Cymoth who's here will ... Start to change to match her, inside and out.}
AE: {I don't have any concrete evidence of this. I just... Think it's what will happen. And I think she'll really, really need her Moirail to see her through. Or someone to, anyway.}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] she looks at him, seriously -- assessingly, critically. --
AE: {You know... If I had a Moirail -- not that I need one, of course, but s?eaking hy?othetically -- I'd think that the sight of her in ?ain and ... Decay would make me more ?rotective and caring and BALANCING, not ... Grossed out.}
AE: {-}
LA: Do ¥ou think that I don't tr¥ to b€? Do ¥ou not think that I put a££ th€ €ƒƒort I ¢an into *not* a¢ting £ik€ a ¢omp£€t€ a$$ho£€ to h€r? I am not a brav€ tro££, Ar€thu$a. LA: n¢€, and $h€'$ on£¥ gott€n wor$€.
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] grabs Lamia by the shoulders. --
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia blinks, stiffens, a little, but allows herself to be grabbed. --
LA: $om€thing i$ v€r¥ wrong with h€r, Ar€thu$a. $h€ ta£k$ about voi¢€$ in h€r h€ad, mo¢king h€r and ¢omp€££ing h€r to do thing$. $h€ ha$ mad€ w€apon$ ƒrom h€r own bod¥ part$ that €xud€ what £ook$ £ik€ pur€ darkn€$$. LA: ¥ou hav€n't $€€n h€r in p€r$on Ar€thu$a, ¥ou know nothing.
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia reaches her hands up to his face and very suddenly, very swiftly pulls it against her own in a kiss. --
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] it's a hard, angry, confused sort of kiss, and sharp fangs meet lips, and there's blood. And then, it's over, and she's looking seriously into Aascam's eyes, focused, penetrating, and stepping back, slowly. --
AE: {I know more than you think, Aascam.}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] a pause, while she wipes the blood from her lip. --
AE: {And you... Know less than you think.}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] casually spoken, as she knows that the colour of the blood on the fingers she's pulled away from her mouth is nothing like indigo. --
AE: {For instance, had you grabbed Arethusa that way, you'd almost certainly be a smear contributing to the colour of your carpet.}
AE: {-}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] Aascam can do nothing but stare, slack-jawed, dumbfounded, incredulous, and all sorts of other similar words at what had just occurred. --
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] He wipes the blood from his own lips, and examines the colour of his blood mixed with hers. --
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] He closes his mouth into a tight line, licking at it occasionally. He lowers his head for a moment, then raises it so he can look Lamia directly in the eyes. --
-- loanedAllegiance [LA]He walks over slowly, stopping before her.
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] And he swings a punch at her ear. --
LA: What th€ ƒu¢k wa$ that?!
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] he punches air, since she ducks, swiftly, with serpent-quick reflexes, and then flies out of reach. She is more used to the way movement works, here, after all. --
AE: {What do you think it was?}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] distant, thoughtful. Not even really taunting, at all. A little ... quiet, perhaps. --
AE: {-}
LA: I don't know what I think that wa$ b€¢ua$€ what th€ a¢tua£ h€££, £amia? ¥ou ¢om€ in h€r€, pr€t€nd to b€ Ar€thu$a, and th€n mak€ out with m€? I... What wa$ that?
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia looks away for a moment, to the side, frowning a little, but otherwise pretty inscrutable. --
AE: {When she speaks, it's with a deliberateness.}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] When she speaks, it's with a deliberateness. --
AE: {Let me help you out, as I seem to be doing so often lately. What THAT was, Aascam, was you failing, as usual, to pay attention. You, expecting to be given whatever you ask for just because you're asking for it.}
AE: {You, thinking that to bare your throat to a predator will provoke it to pity instead of to a hearty meal.}
AE: {You, making it quite plain that you've told Arethusa about your Moirailship with Cymoth, when Arethusa is the last person in the incipisphere Cymoth would want that information shared with.}
AE: {You betray your Moirail's confidence and expect pity and trust and help from trolls who plot and scheme and trick you time and again! What is WRONG with you, Aascam?}
AE: {-}
LA: What i$ wrong with m€? I'££ t€££ ¥ou what'$ wrong with m€! What'$ wrong with m€ i$ that I'm ¢omp£€t€£¥ PATH€TI¢! How path€ti¢ ¥ou ma¥ a$k? £€t m€ ¢ount th€ wa¥$! -- loanedAllegiance [LA] As he speaks, tears start slowly welling up in the corners of his eyes. By the time he finishes, his heavy breathing is punctuated by short sobs. --
LA: -
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia listens. Just listens. She doesn't react, doesn't move, until he starts crying. Then she bites her lip. She floats closer, and gently, slowly, moves to put a hand on his shoulder. --
AE: {You're not ... Charmless, Aascam. You're not a failure of a troll. Believe me. Remember Pepeir?}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] a bit of a smile. --
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] then, a pause, and a slightly troubled look. --
AE: {For what it's worth, I didn't come here with the intention of tricking you. I just wanted to talk to you about Cymoth, to figure out what to do to help her. But when I came you were just so infuriating and -- }
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] she sighs, tucks a lock of hair behind a horn. --
AE: {I'm sorry. I shouldn't have -- well, whatever else, I definitely shouldn't have kissed you. I apologise.}
AE: {-}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] grimaces. --

AE: {Okay.}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Quiet. And then she flies out the window without another word. --

LA & AA - I n€€d to ¢£€ar m¥ h€ad ƒrom a££ thi$ $tupidit¥.
LA: Aascam appears atop Cymoth's hive, beneath her first gate. He looks around and sees...
LA: -
AA: A c0llapsed, 0ne st0ry h0use sitting in the middle 0f a large b0wl-shaped depressi0n in the middle 0f the desert. At the edges 0f it are incredibly wide and deep cany0ns, restricting escape. Ab0ve the hive are a series 0f puzzling structures that pr0vide transp0rt t0 the gate with s0me difficulty.
AA: -
LA: "¢¥moth? Ar€ ¥ou th€r€ ¢¥moth?"
LA: Aascam shouts, looking around for her.
LA: -
AA: She is n0 where t0 be seen. H0wever, a black, slick, 0ily trail 0f f00tprints can be seen indented a full inch int0 vari0us places ar0und the area. They lead 0ff t0 a cany0n and begin again 0n the 0ther side
AA: -
LA: Aascam peers at the trail for a moment and follows it. He only realises now that he should have messaged Cymoth before entering.
LA: -
AA: The trail leads 0n f0r s0me distance, bef0re disappearing inside 0ne 0f the many crumbling hive-structures stabbing int0 the sky like jagged knives. There aren't any lights 0n inside, and 0dd whispering n0ises emanate fr0m the entrance
AA: -
LA: Aascam quickly presses himself to the wall outside the entrance at the sound of the whispers. Summoning up all his courage he takes a peek inside.
LA: -
AA: A few lamps turn 0ff and 0n at rand0m inside, pr0viding ragged but dim light. The f00tprints c0ntinue inside, g0ing d0wn a set 0f stairs.
AA: -
LA: Aascam refuses to advance any further. Instead he brings up his husktop and messages Cymoth.
LA: ¢¥moth? Wh€r€ ar€ ¥ou?
LA: -
AA: -0-h hell0 Aascam
AA: I'm d0wnstairs.
AA: 0
AA: -
LA: How do you know where I am?
LA: -
AA: I can smell y0u.
AA: -
LA: ¢ou£d ¥ou ¢om€ out p£€a$€?
LA: I'm r€a££¥ not in th€ mood to b€ going into dark bui£ding$ with €€r¥ whi$p€r$ €minating ƒrom th€m
LA: -
AA: After a few minutes, a shuffling, cracking n0ise can be heard emanating fr0m the staircase. M0cking laughter and whispered insults can be heard, and the pitter patter 0f liquid dripping 0nt0 the fl00r.
AA: -
LA: Aascam looks into the doorway.
LA: -
AA: Cym0th walks up the staircase, sniffling slightly and scratching at her neck. She l00ks...different. Paler, m0re ragged. Her cl0thing replaced by a suit t0rn t0 shreds by what appear t0 be claws. Her eyes are gnashing m0uths, and her fangs are sliding awkwardly fr0m between her lips, t00 large f0r her m0uth. She l00ks as if she's been crying f0r a while.
AA: -
LA: Aascam can do nothing but stare. His thoughts now consist soley of those that pass through the thinkpans of antlerbeasts shortly before they are hit by four-wheeled transportation devices piloted by a particularly intoxicated troll. After an uncomfortably long silence, he speaks.
LA: "$o how ar€ ¥ou?"
LA: -
AA: Cym0th tries t0 smile, but it appears h0ll0w and fake. She shuffles f0rward, 0ne 0f her legs dragging slightly behind her. It bec0mes apparent that the m0cking laughter is emanating fr0m her eye s0ckets. She st0ps a small distance fr0m Aascam, and she slumps against a wall, sliding int0 a seated p0siti0n.
AA: "N0t s0 great."
AA: -
LA: "I ¢an $€€ that. What happ€n€d to ¥ou?"
LA: -
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] turns to face him, and she folds her arms against herself. --
AA: "Just y0u kn0w...-0-gres. And uhm. Stuff."
AA: -
LA: "¢¥moth, I know ¥ou $aid ¥ou took out ¥our €¥€... But what th€ h€££?
LA: How did thi$ happ€n to ¥ou?"
LA: -
AA: "It was g0ing t0 happen anyway. That's h0w they said it g0es..."
AA: -
LA: "Ar€ ¥ou ta£king about th€ voi¢€$? ¥ou'r€ $a¥ing that voi¢€$ in ¥our h€ad did thi$ to ¥ou?"
LA: -
AA: Cym0th n0ds sl0wly.
AA: -
LA: "How?"
LA: -
AA: "I d0n't kn0w. They d0 it while I'm sleeping."
AA: -
LA: "I... What?"
LA: -
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] lolls her head back on her neck bonelessly. --
AA: "Yeah..."
AA: -
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] gags a bit in his mouth. --
LA: That'$... Ok I'm not going to €v€n a$k.
LA: What w€r€ ¥ou doing down th€r€?
LA: -
AA: "Just...getting things ready."
AA: -
LA: "¢¥moth, do I hav€ to," Aa$¢am pau$€$ h€r€, "go down th€r€ and £ook ƒor m€¥$€£ƒ?"
LA: -
AA: "If y0u like...There's n0thing dark 0r h0rrifying 0r anything like that d0wn there..."
AA: -
LA: "No, no... I'££ tak€ ¥our word ƒor it. Ju$t, t€££ m€ what ¥ou w€r€ doing."
LA: -
AA: "I was just...clearing s0me basilisks 0ut fr0m the w0rkr00m. I'm supp0sed t0 be making s0me stuff d0wn there."
AA: Cym0th twists her head back f0rward with a l0ud CRACK
AA: -
LA: Oh god.
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] dry retches. --
LA: $orr¥. Ju$t... P£€a$€ don't do that.
LA: -
AA: "S0rry."
AA: -
LA: "It'$ ƒin€, ¢¥mm¥. I ju$t hav€ a w€ak dig€$tion $a¢ i$ a££.
LA: Aascam clears his throat.
LA: $o, how ar€ ¥ou thi$ ƒin€... €v€ning I $uppo$€.
LA: -
AA: "I'm d0ing as well as I c0uld h0pe t0, I guess. Y0urself?"
AA: -
LA: Not w€££. I'v€ don€ $om€thing in¢r€dib£¥ $tupid and I don't r€a££¥ know what to do right now.
LA: I don't think I'v€ €v€r ƒ€£t thi$ d€j€¢t€d.
LA: -
AA: "-0-h? What happened?"
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] perks her head up, finally looking Aascam in the eyes. --
AA: -
LA: I... ƒoo£i$h£¥ tru$t€d Tau£a with $om€ v€r¥ $€n$itiv€ inƒormation, and $h€'$ $pr€ad it around.
LA: It'$ quit€ humi£iating.
LA: -
AA: "What?"
AA: There's an undercurrent 0f anger t0 her t0ne, and mild disbelief. She clenches her hands int0 fists.
AA: -
LA: Aascam is too absorbed in self-pity right now to notice Cymoth's anger.
LA: "And I ¢an't €v€n do an¥thing about it! I hav€ no pow€r ov€r h€r, no $€n$itiv€ inƒormation or important $€¢r€t$. I bar€£¥ hav€ an¥pow€r at a££!"
LA: If you look closely you see green tears forming at the edges of his eyes.
LA: "Oh god I'm path€ti¢."
LA: -
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] stands up from her slumped position on the wall, and walks over to Aascam. She puts a hand on his shoulder, quivering slightly. --
AA: "Aascam?"
AA: -
LA: Aascam doesn't look at her.
LA: "What? I'm ƒin€. I ju$t n€€d $om€ tim€ to think."
LA: -
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] wraps him in a bone-crushing hug, holding him close. --
AA: "Shut up. Y0u...y0u're n0t pathetic. I am."
AA: -
LA: "Oh god ¢¥mm¥, too tight!"
LA: Aascam tries to squirm out, but to no avail.
LA: -
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] lets go, and snaps her hands to her sides, clenching them so hard that her nails bite into her palms --
AA: "What did she d0."
AA: -
LA: "$h€... Do ¥ou $w€ar not to t€££ an¥on€?"
LA: -
AA: "-0-f c0urse."
AA: -
LA: "$h€..."
LA: Aascam stares at his feet.
LA: "R€¢ord€d m€ doing a dan¢€."
LA: "A bit oƒ a $€du¢tiv€ on€."
LA: -
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] gives Aascam an incredulous look, mouth agape. She couldn't believe this. She wouldn't believe this. --
AA: "WHAT?"
AA: -
LA: Aascam slumps to the ground, head in his hands.
LA: "I know, ab$o£ut€£¥ idioti¢."
LA: -
AA: "And after she..."
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] screams in frustration and buries her fist in a wall, quivering with barely constrained rage. --
AA: -
LA: Aascam is startled by Cymoth's display of force.
LA: Ar€ ¥ou OK ¢¥mm¥?
LA: -
AA: "N0, I'm n0t. I did s0mething...stupid. And...I d0n't kn0w what t0 d0, 0k?"
AA: -
LA: "What happ€n€d?"
LA: -
AA: "I just..."
AA: "I asked if Taula wanted t0..."
-- apatheticAbuser [AA] smashes her face against a wall, screaming in rage. --
AA: -
LA: Aascam gets up and puts his hand on Cymoth's shoulder.
LA: "¢¥moth? What happ€n€d? I $w€ar iƒ Tau£a did an¥thing..."
LA: -
AA: "She...she turned me d0wn is all."
AA: -
LA: "Turn€d ¥ou down ƒrom what?"
LA: "¢¥moth what did ¥ou do?"
LA: -
AA: "I asked her 0ut."
AA: -
LA: Aascam is stunned.
LA: "What?"
LA: -
AA: "I was being stupid and...b0ld and c0mpletely 0ut 0f my place. And I asked her 0ut. -0-n a date. And...she was h0rrified."
AA: -
LA: Aascam can do nothing but stare incredulously.
LA: Eventually, he manages to focus himself for long enough to ask:
LA: "R€d or B£a¢k?"
LA: -
AA: Cym0th averts her eyes, staring at the fl00r in shame, a dark blush c0l0uring her cheeks.
AA: "Red."
AA: -
LA: "¥ou £ov€ h€r?! What th€ ƒu¢k ¢¥moth?"
LA: -
AA: "D0n't FUCKING talk t0 me like that. I made a mistake, 0k? I th0ught I did. She was nice t0 me, and I th0ught I liked her. And y0u kn0w what? She was nice. While barely c0nstraining her DISGUST that I'd think t0 ask her 0ut, she was nice."
AA: -
LA: "I... $orr¥. I'm kind oƒ not m¥$€£ƒ right now and..."
LA: Aascam backs away a bit.
LA: "$orr¥. R€a££¥."
LA: -
AA: "It's 0k I...I sh0uldn't be yelling at y0u. It's n0t y0ur fault. It's mine."
AA: -
LA: "Oh god £ook at u$, wa££owing i$ $€£ƒ-pit¥. I ¢an't do thi$ right now, I'm too... tir€d."
LA: Aascam sighs.
LA: "H€¥, ¢an I tak€ $om€ r€$t ba¢k at ¥our hiv€? I n€€d to ¢£€ar m¥ h€ad ƒrom a££ thi$ $tupidit¥."
LA: -
AA: "That's...that's fine. I need t0 be d0ing s0mething anyway."
AA: -
LA: "A£right, thank$."
LA: Aascam turns back towards Cymoth's hive.
LA: "I'££ $€€ ¥ou £at€r th€n, I gu€$$."
LA: -
AA: "Bye."
AA: Cym0th g0es d0wn the stairs fr0m which she came.
AA: -
LA: Aascam waves goodbye at her and heads back silently towards Cymoth's hive.
LA: -
AA: A c0llapsed, 0ne st0ry h0use sitting in the middle 0f a large b0wl-shaped depressi0n in the middle 0f the desert.

LA & AE - Thank ¥ou.
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] began pestering aspirantExegesist [AE] at 12:36 --
LA: H€££o £amia.
LA: How ar€ ¥ou?
AE: {Hello, Aascam.}
AE: {I am a little busy, actually -- I am in the field, slaughtering imps.}
LA: I $€€. I'££ ¢ut to th€ ¢ha$€ th€n.
AE: {No no, no need to cut any chases.}
AE: {Perhaps you could initiate a conversation with me a little later on, when I am less busy?}
LA: I wou£d pr€ƒ€r w€ ta£k now though.
LA: ¢an't ¥ou ƒind a $aƒ€ $pot to r€$t?
AE: {I am not inclined to tailor my schedule to your preference. You may wait while I dispatch these imps, and I may tell you when I am done. Unless choosing the most inconvenient possible moment for your chase-cutting is some absurd character quirk of yours.}
AE: {In which case, while I am certainly no more inclined to pander to it than otherwise, I will at least endeavour to be more accommodating of your curious disability.}
LA: £amia I am not h€r€ to antagoniz€ ¥ou. I ju$t want an an$w€r to a $imp£€ qu€$tion.
LA: I think I ma¥ hav€ mad€ a t€rrib£€ mi$tak€.
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia sighs, and decisively decapitates an imp into a grist windfall with a quick flick of her Red Miles wielding wrist. --
AE: {Okay, I'm done. What's happened?}
LA: I don't want to g€t into th€ $p€¢iƒi¢$, ju$t...
LA: How tru$tworth¥ wou£d ¥ou $aw Mi$$ Tau£a i$?
LA: *$a¥, m¥ apo£ogi€$
AE: {That -- is an interesting question. By what metric are we measuring trust?}
LA: £€t$ $aw on a $¢a£€ oƒ 1 to 10, wh€r€ 10 i$ paragon oƒ tru$tworth¥n€$$ and 1 i$ ¥our av€rag€ $€adw€££€r.
LA: No on€ $aw an¥thing, wh¥ do I k€€p t¥ping that?
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia winces. --
AE: {Aascam...}
AE: {I know you want things to be one way or the other, immediately, with no nuance or qualification. But would you permit me to question your premises before I endeavour to answer this question?}
LA: V€r¥ w€££. I am ¢urr€nt£¥ in m¥ r€$pit€b£o¢k.
LA: Wh¥ do ¥ou a$k?
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia blushes. --
LA: £amia?
AE: {Er -- no, no. Those are not the premises(1) I meant.}
AE: {(1)A word which here means the logical underpinnings of your question.}
LA: Oh.
AE: {Let me explain.}
AE: {When you ask me whether a person is trustworthy, you seem to assume that trustworthiness is a constant. It is not, Aascam. Trustworthiness is a variable.}
AE: {I may consider a given person trustworthy based on their relationship to me, for instance; it does not logically follow that they will prove worthy of YOUR trust, for you and I are not similar.}
AE: {Further -- surely you can trust people in different ways.}
AE: {You might, for instance, trust a Moirail differently than you would trust a Kismesis. }
AE: {You might trust a Moirail with your vulnerabilities, but trust a Kismesis to betray those same vulnerabilities at the most satisfying opportunity.}
AE: {But -- your Moirail might be someone else's Kismesis. Your Moirail might be trustworthy so far as you are concerned, but not so far as someone else is. Do you see?}
LA: A v€r¥ int€r€$ting £€¢tur€ £amia, but $ur€£¥ with ¥our $ki££$ ¥ou ¢an d€t€rmin€ how tru$tworth Mi$$ Tau£a i$ in r€£ation$hip toward$ m€.
LA: And ¥ou $ti££ hav€n't an$w€r€d m¥ qu€$tion.
LA: Wh¥ do ¥ou want to know th€ "£ogi¢a£ und€rpinning$" b€hind m¥ ƒir$t qu€$tion?
AE: {I did not want to know them -- I was trying to make them plain to you, to show you that they are problematic and likely to lead you astray.}
AE: {Aascam -- I confess I am somewhat baffled by your question. Why would you ask someone you've hateflirted with to gauge the trustworthiness of a third party?}
AE: {Why, in short, should you trust anything -I- say?}
AE: {Think this through!}
LA: I gu€$$ ¥ou'r€ ju$t th€ mo$t hon€$t oƒ a££ oƒ u$.
LA: At £€a$t *I* think $o.
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia executes a x2 facepalm combo. --
LA: And b€$id€$, thi$ i$ r€a££¥ mor€ oƒ a $€¢ond opinion.
AE: {Oh?}
LA: I'v€ b€€n to£d Mi$$ Tau£a i$... "tri¢k¥," and I ƒind m¥$€£ƒ r€gr€tting a r€¢€nt d€a£ I mad€ with h€r.
AE: {On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you trust the source of that assessment?}
LA: ...I'm not $ur€ hon€$t£¥. But I don't $€€ wh¥ th€¥ wou£d £i€ in thi$ r€gard.
LA: Wh¥ do ¥ou a$k?
AE: {Curiosity. You seem to be in the proverbial brined vegetable as a result of a mistake where trustworthiness is concerned, and yet you seem intent on compounding the situation by approaching various parties of dubious trustworthiness about the initial subject of your mistake.}
AE: {As strategies go, I suppose I've seen better.}
LA: A££ I want i$ ¥our an$w€r, £amia. Not ¥our opinion.
AE: {Excuse me, you have asked me FOR my opinion. }
AE: {Specifically, my opinion on Taula's trustworthiness where you are concerned.}
AE: {Very well. Here you are.}
AE: {I do not think you should trust Taula. Or rather, I think you should trust her to be cleverer and swifter and altogether more devious than you are, and behave accordingly.}
LA: Thank ¥ou. Now wa$ that $o hard?
AE: {For me? Not at all. Why do you assume I should make anything easy for you?}
LA: Hon€$t£¥?
LA: I'm not $ur€ ¥ou r€a££¥ hat€ m€.
LA: Romanti¢a££¥ that i$.
AE: {I don't, Aascam. I told you as much.}
LA: I know, I know, £€t m€ ¢ontinu€.
LA: I a£$o think that mix€d in with that hat€ i$ a h€aping $poonƒu£ oƒ pit¥ and oh wh¥ am I €v€n t€££ing ¥ou thi$?
LA: It'$ ju$t wh¥ wou£d ¥ou want to ¢ontinu€ to antagoniz€ m€?
AE: {I ... Don't. There was a moment where -- it was a spark. And sparks need to be carefully fanned into a hate-blaze, Aascam. But you ... You just blew it out. In your haste. So, no. I have no desire to antagonize you. I ... Do pity you. I'm sorry.}
LA: Thank$.
LA: I $uppo$€.
AE: {May I ask what led you to this conclusion?}
LA: A ta£k with Ar€thu$a.
LA: W€££, that ¢ompund€d with a ta£k with Mi$$ Tau£a and a bit oƒ intro$p€¢tion.
AE: {If I'm not mistaken, Aascam... I don't think you're entirely feeling hatred towards me either, are you.}
LA: I don't £ik€ ¥ou, but ¥€$, I don't think I r€a££¥ hat€ ¥ou an¥mor€.
LA: Am I that mu¢h oƒ an op€n book?
AE: {Don't take it personally. Seeing people as open books is sort of my default setting.}
AE: {It's even a pun in my game title. >>:) Page of Mind.}
LA: How ¢£€v€r.
AE: {I imagine you're feeling a little sore over how this has turned out, but ... Would I be wrong in suspecting that your hate hasn't entirely vanished? That it has, perhaps, merely shifted objects?}
LA: Wh¥ wou£d that b€? I m€an, I do di$£ik€ $om€ oƒ th€ tro££$ h€r€, but not €nough to hat€ an¥ oƒ th€m.
LA: ...Wh¥ do ¥ou a$k?
AE: {Come on, Aascam. Are you honestly going to pretend you haven't been hateflirting with Taula even a little?}
LA: Hahaha, ha$ $h€ b€€n $a¥ing that? Iƒ that w€r€ tru€ th€n both Ar€thu$a and I ar€ both ¢urr€nt£¥ ¢omp€ting ƒor h€r b£a¢k ƒ€€£ing$.
AE: {Really? Do tell!}
LA: $h€ ju$t brought u$ into a m€mo and I wa$ g€tting tir€d oƒ h€r $pook¥ hooƒb€a$t $hit, $o I tro££€d Ar€thu$a an a $€p€rat€ ¢hat and ¢o-ordinat€d $om€ a¢¢u$ation$ oƒ b£a¢k ƒ€€£ing$ ƒor u$.
AE: {I see.}
LA: $h€ got ƒ£u$t€r€d and w€ had $om€ ƒun.
LA: I $€€ $h€ took it a bit $€riou$£¥ though.
LA: W€££, that'$ on€ $ma££ vi¢tor¥ ƒor m€, I $uppo$€.
AE: {Aascam, you said you regretted a deal you made with her. Are you honestly going to sit there in your respiteblock and ignore the fact that you, an aspirant Businessassin, did not completely dominate a business transaction to your satisfaction?}
LA: W€££ I am obviou$£¥ p£otting $om€thing to g€t ba¢k $om€ pow€r, but a$ ¥ou ma¥ hav€ noti¢€d m¥ tra¢k r€¢ord i$ not th€ b€$t, and hon€$t£¥ $h€ ha$ quit€ a bit oƒ b£a¢kmai£ing pow€r ov€r m€ right now.
AE: {Does she?}
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia surrrrreptitiously opens another window, in which to play the curiously addictive Blackmailing Power for the umpteenth time. --
LA: Iƒ an¥on€ $€€$ what $h€ ha$, it might ruin m¥ who£€ r€putation a$, iƒ not a $u¢$€$$ƒu£ on€, a ¢o£d, $€riou$ bui$n€$$a$$in. I wou£d not b€ $upri$€d iƒ I got $€v€ra£ d€mand$ ƒrom h€r in th€ n€ar ƒutur€ that I wou£d hav€ to ¢omp£¥ with iƒ on£¥ to $av€ ƒa¢€.
AE: {I see.}
AE: {Well.}
AE: {If your reputation did prove to be so ruined, at least you could pursue an alternate career in provocative dance manoeuvers.}
-- loanedAllegiance [LA] freezes. His eyes have have caught the words on his husktop screen but his mind is still having trouble processing it. --
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia bops along to the song, smiling. --
LA: What do ¥ou know?
AE: {Quite a lot! You'll have to be more specific.}
LA: $h€ wou£dn't hav€. $h€ ¢ou£d hav€ had $o mu¢h pow€r and $h€ wa$t€d it ju$t to...
LA: Mo¢k m€.
AE: {You know what my favourite part is? When you throw your hat.}
AE: {I feel like somewhere during your ridiculous torrent of useless acquisition, you saw that hat, and thought, "one day, I must create a dance routine around the throwing of this hat."}
AE: {And then that day came, and the moment for its deployment was handed to you on a silver nutritional plateau.}
AE: {You are very good at throwing hats, Aascam. I commend you. Although the choice of your blood colour for a carpet in your respite block is somewhat disturbing. Perhaps your Lusus chose it to remind you of your place beneath its feet?}
LA: £amia, in ¥our proƒ€$$iona£ opinion what wou£d ¥ou $a¥ i$ th€ mor€ €ƒƒ€¢tiv€ bu$in€$$ $trat€g¥? Th€ manipu£ation oƒ an oppo$€d part¥ through b£a¢kmai£, or th€ d€mora£ization oƒ $aid part¥ through $imp£¥ r€v€a£ing th€ ¢omprimi$ing inƒormation to €v€¥on€?
AE: {I suspect that would depend entirely on what one wanted to achieve. Strategy is goal-oriented, Aascam. Do not mistake the means for the end.}
LA: ¥€$, ¥€$, oƒ ¢our$€. How ¢ou£d I ƒorg€t?
LA: What wou£d ¥ou $a¥ i$ Tau£a'$ goa£ th€n?
AE: {You keep making assumptions. Why, for instance, would you assume that she has shared this compromising information with everyone?}
LA: Who know$?
LA: An$w€r m€ £amia, who know$ about thi$?
AE: {I am not going to make this easy for you, Aascam. Stop expecting people to give you honest answers to questions just because you want them to. Grow up. Think things through. Make plots of your own. Make TAULA tell you how many she has shared this with. Understand that blackmail is not an all or nothing proposition. She can humiliate you selectively AND keep extorting things from you to prevent FU
AE: RTHER humiliation.}
AE: {She has the power here. You, at present, have none.}
AE: {The question is not "who knows." The question, my dear Mr Capita, is what are YOU going to do about it?}
LA: I think I'££ go now. Thank ¥ou ƒor th€ £ov€£¥ ¢onv€r$ation, £amia.
AE: {This was, in fact, sincerely my pleasure.}
AE: {Goodbye, Aascam.}
AE: {Good luck!}
LA: Thank ¥ou.

AE: {I am not inclined to tailor my schedule to your preference. You may wait while I dispatch these imps, and I may tell you when I am done. Unless choosing the most inconvenient possible moment for your chase-cutting is some absurd character quirk of yours.}
AE: {In which case, while I am certainly no more inclined to pander to it than otherwise, I will at least endeavour to be more accommodating of your curious disability.}
LA: £amia I am not h€r€ to antagoniz€ ¥ou. I ju$t want an an$w€r to a $imp£€ qu€$tion.

AE: {I know you want things to be one way or the other, immediately, with no nuance or qualification. But would you permit me to question your premises before I endeavour to answer this question?}
LA: V€r¥ w€££. I am ¢urr€nt£¥ in m¥ r€$pit€b£o¢k.
LA: Wh¥ do ¥ou a$k?
-- aspirantExegesist [AE] Lamia blushes. --
LA: £amia?
AE: {Er -- no, no. Those are not the premises(1) I meant.}
AE: {(1)A word which here means the logical underpinnings of your question.}
LA: Oh.
AE: {Let me explain.}
AE: {When you ask me whether a person is trustworthy, you seem to assume that trustworthiness is a constant. It is not, Aascam. Trustworthiness is a variable.}
AE: {I may consider a given person trustworthy based on their relationship to me, for instance; it does not logically follow that they will prove worthy of YOUR trust, for you and I are not similar.}
AE: {Further -- surely you can trust people in different ways.}
AE: {You might, for instance, trust a Moirail differently than you would trust a Kismesis. }
AE: {You might trust a Moirail with your vulnerabilities, but trust a Kismesis to betray those same vulnerabilities at the most satisfying opportunity.}
AE: {But -- your Moirail might be someone else's Kismesis. Your Moirail might be trustworthy so far as you are concerned, but not so far as someone else is. Do you see?}
LA: A v€r¥ int€r€$ting £€¢tur€ £amia, but $ur€£¥ with ¥our $ki££$ ¥ou ¢an d€t€rmin€ how tru$tworth Mi$$ Tau£a i$ in r€£ation$hip toward$ m€.

AE: {I did not want to know them -- I was trying to make them plain to you, to show you that they are problematic and likely to lead you astray.}
AE: {Aascam -- I confess I am somewhat baffled by your question. Why would you ask someone you've hateflirted with to gauge the trustworthiness of a third party?}
AE: {Why, in short, should you trust anything -I- say?}
AE: {Think this through!}
LA: I gu€$$ ¥ou'r€ ju$t th€ mo$t hon€$t oƒ a££ oƒ u$.

LA: I'v€ b€€n to£d Mi$$ Tau£a i$... "tri¢k¥," and I ƒind m¥$€£ƒ r€gr€tting a r€¢€nt d€a£ I mad€ with h€r.
AE: {On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you trust the source of that assessment?}
LA: ...I'm not $ur€ hon€$t£¥. But I don't $€€ wh¥ th€¥ wou£d £i€ in thi$ r€gard.
LA: Wh¥ do ¥ou a$k?
AE: {Curiosity. You seem to be in the proverbial brined vegetable as a result of a mistake where trustworthiness is concerned, and yet you seem intent on compounding the situation by approaching various parties of dubious trustworthiness about the initial subject of your mistake.}
AE: {As strategies go, I suppose I've seen better.}
LA: A££ I want i$ ¥our an$w€r, £amia. Not ¥our opinion.
AE: {Excuse me, you have asked me FOR my opinion. }
AE: {Specifically, my opinion on Taula's trustworthiness where you are concerned.}
AE: {Very well. Here you are.}
AE: {I do not think you should trust Taula. Or rather, I think you should trust her to be cleverer and swifter and altogether more devious than you are, and behave accordingly.}
LA: Thank ¥ou. Now wa$ that $o hard?
AE: {For me? Not at all. Why do you assume I should make anything easy for you?}
LA: Hon€$t£¥?
LA: I'm not $ur€ ¥ou r€a££¥ hat€ m€.
LA: Romanti¢a££¥ that i$.

LA: It'$ ju$t wh¥ wou£d ¥ou want to ¢ontinu€ to antagoniz€ m€?
AE: {I ... Don't. There was a moment where -- it was a spark. And sparks need to be carefully fanned into a hate-blaze, Aascam. But you ... You just blew it out. In your haste. So, no. I have no desire to antagonize you. I ... Do pity you. I'm sorry.}
LA: Thank$.
LA: I $uppo$€.
AE: {May I ask what led you to this conclusion?}
LA: A ta£k with Ar€thu$a.
LA: W€££, that ¢ompund€d with a ta£k with Mi$$ Tau£a and a bit oƒ intro$p€¢tion.
AE: {If I'm not mistaken, Aascam... I don't think you're entirely feeling hatred towards me either, are you.}
LA: I don't £ik€ ¥ou, but ¥€$, I don't think I r€a££¥ hat€ ¥ou an¥mor€.
LA: Am I that mu¢h oƒ an op€n book?
AE: {Don't take it personally. Seeing people as open books is sort of my default setting.}
AE: {It's even a pun in my game title. >>:) Page of Mind.}
LA: How ¢£€v€r.
AE: {I imagine you're feeling a little sore over how this has turned out, but ... Would I be wrong in suspecting that your hate hasn't entirely vanished? That it has, perhaps, merely shifted objects?}
LA: Wh¥ wou£d that b€? I m€an, I do di$£ik€ $om€ oƒ th€ tro££$ h€r€, but not €nough to hat€ an¥ oƒ th€m.

LA: Mo¢k m€.
AE: {You know what my favourite part is? When you throw your hat.}
AE: {I feel like somewhere during your ridiculous torrent of useless acquisition, you saw that hat, and thought, "one day, I must create a dance routine around the throwing of this hat."}
AE: {And then that day came, and the moment for its deployment was handed to you on a silver nutritional plateau.}
AE: {You are very good at throwing hats, Aascam. I commend you. Although the choice of your blood colour for a carpet in your respite block is somewhat disturbing. Perhaps your Lusus chose it to remind you of your place beneath its feet?}

LA: ¥€$, ¥€$, oƒ ¢our$€. How ¢ou£d I ƒorg€t?
LA: What wou£d ¥ou $a¥ i$ Tau£a'$ goa£ th€n?

LA: Who know$?
LA: An$w€r m€ £amia, who know$ about thi$?
AE: {I am not going to make this easy for you, Aascam. Stop expecting people to give you honest answers to questions just because you want them to. Grow up. Think things through. She can humiliate you selectively AND keep extorting things from you to prevent FU
AE: RTHER humiliation.}
AE: {She has the power here. You, at present, have none.}
AE: {The question is not "who knows." The question, my dear Mr Capita, is what are YOU going to do about it?}
LA: I think I'££ go now. Thank ¥ou ƒor th€ £ov€£¥ ¢onv€r$ation, £amia.

[11:34] LA: M¥ hat€ b€£ong$ to Mi$$ £amia a£on€.
[11:35] PH: Reeeeeeally
[11:36] LA: R€a££¥.
[11:37] PH: And you're certain that she hates you back, caliginously?
[11:37] PH: That just looking at your obnoxious green text makes her heart constrict into a shadowy ball of contem?t?
[11:38] LA: £amia? Oƒ ¢our$€. I hav€ n€v€r $€€n $u¢h b£atant b£a¢k ƒ£irting.
[11:38] LA: $h€ $a¥$ it'$ ju$t p£atoni¢, but I know b€tt€r.
[11:38] PH: Scammy. Baby.
[11:39] PH: Where have you seen black flirting in the ?ast?
[11:39] PH: Just out of curiousity.
[11:39] PH: Did you watch films your lusus shouldn't have let you watch?
[11:39] PH: >:O
[11:39] LA: ƒi$t oƒ a££, what'$ a bab¥? And $€¢ond, that'$ a privat€ matt€r.
[11:40] PH: It's some kind of mythical ?ink monkey. I think it's su??osed to be cute and hel?less and stink a lot.
[11:40] LA: I $€€.
[11:40] PH: ...And ... All right, I don't ...
[11:40] PH: ... really want to know about your filthy film watching habits ...
[11:41] PH: ... I'm sure that whatever they were it is a matter best left in the dark recesses of your own ?ersonal memory ...
[11:41] PH: ... however ...
[11:41] PH: What if you're misjudging the situation?
[11:41] PH: What if she isn't black for you, Scam? What if she only felt it for a moment, and then you chased it away with your forwardness?
[11:41] PH: What then?
[11:42] LA: I... don't know r€a££¥.
[11:42] PH: Wow.
[11:42] LA: But no, I'm $ur€ $h€ hat€$ m€. Ab$o£ut€¥ ¢€rtain.
[11:42] PH: I am so disa??ointed.
[11:43] LA: What?
[11:43] PH: "I ... don't know really." How is that even remotely the a??ro?riate answer to "oh, but she doesn't HATE hate me anymore"?
[11:43] PH: Don't you want to make your rivalry interesting? Don't you want to make all trolls who look u?on it tremble with desire and envy?!
[11:44] LA: ¥ou'r€ $a¥ing I $hou£d k€€p pur$uing h€r an¥wa¥$?
[11:44] PH: Ahaha, no. I'm saying that ...
[11:44] PH: ... a rivalry is more than ...
[11:44] PH: Dislike and aggravation.
[11:45] PH: It's give and take!
[11:45] PH: What're you going to GIVE, Scammy?
[11:45] LA: What ar€ ¥ou €v€n ta£king about?
[11:45] PH: Oh man.
[11:46] PH: Maybe I should just let you bask in the glow of moirallegiance for a little while longer. >:)
[11:46] LA: No wait. What am I doing wrong h€r€?
[11:46] LA: ¥ou hav€ to t€££ m€.
[11:47] PH: I 'have' to tell you, hmm?
[11:47] LA: I'££ ow€ ¥ou.
[11:48] LA: And a Bu$in€$$a$$in a£wa¥$ k€€p$ hi$ ƒavor$.
[11:53] PH: Tee Hee! Oh, Aascam.
[11:53] PH: I will do my best.
[11:53] PH: Although ...
[11:53] PH: ... You know who has some interesting insights on black romance?
[11:53] PH: Taula. You should ask her about it sometime.
[11:54] PH: But, you know, subtly.
[11:54] LA: Tau£a?
[11:55] PH: Is there an echo?
[11:55] PH: Taula! You know, annoying buzzzzzzzzzy quirk.
[11:55] PH: Look. Answer me this. Why do you hate Lamia?
[11:55] PH: What is it about her that really makes you see black?
[11:56] LA: W€££ $h€'$ a£wa¥$ waving h€r goddamn $up€riorit¥ in m¥ ƒa¢€.
[11:56] LA: T€££ing m€ wh€n I'm wrong and b€ing n€€d£€$$£¥ p€danti¢.
[11:57] LA: And $h€'$ $o $mug about it too.
[11:57] LA: It pra¢ti¢£¥ $€€p$ through h€r t€xt.
[11:58] LA: H€r $mugn€$$.
[11:58] PH: I cannot argue with that. Now, what exactly do you think she has to hate about -- hee -- you?
[11:59] LA: W€££ I ¢ha££€ng€ h€r and $how h€r that $h€'$ ju$t a$ ƒ£aw€d. $h€ do€$n't £ik€ $om€on€ qu€$tioning h€r wi$dom and I do ju$t that.
[12:00] PH: If I give you advice, you can't tell anyone that I did it.
[12:01] LA: Oƒ ¢our$€, nothing £€av€$ thi$ ¢hat.
[12:01] PH: Do you ... Tell ... Lamia how much you hate her?
[12:02] LA: W€££ I ¢€rtain£¥ imp£i€d it quit€ h€avi£¥.
[12:03] LA: Th€ word hat€ wa$ not utt€r€d, but bit wou£d b€ obviou$ what I wa$ g€tting at to an¥on€ with a thinkpan.
[12:04] PH: Reeeeeeeally
[12:06] PH: I su??ose my advice to you, if that is indeed the case, would be to be clever about antagonizing her.
[12:07] PH: You have ?ointed out that she is smug and su?erior and often corrects you.
[12:07] PH: Do you know what she loves? What she values?
[12:07] PH: You should find out and then seek to turn those things against her, or at least cause them to be more "yours."
[12:07] PH: You should move in on her territory.
[12:08] PH: Des?ise each other -- but make it so you must work together, or against each other, because it is necessary!
[12:08] LA: A mataphori¢a£ ho$ti£€ tak€ov€r oƒ $ort$?
[12:12] PH: "Meta?horical"? Hell no. You take her stuff. Use it in ways you know she'd loathe. Be better than her! And where that just isn't ?ossible, counteract with something else. Don't tell her you hate her! Don't sign off with cutesy s?ades until your argument is heated and smoking!
[12:12] PH: Be a badass! Be an asshole! That last really shouldn't be such a stretch for you, Scam.
[12:12] LA: Thank ¥ou.
[12:13] PH: And be aware of the situation. A kismesis ?airing can work together; they just work together with -- dislike. And com?etition!
[12:13] PH: >:) Get it?
[12:13] LA: I think I am.
[12:14] PH: Hm?h. I should ho?e so.
[12:14] PH: I don't want to be witness to a boring kismesis.
[12:14] PH: That would ruin my a?ocaly?se.
[12:15] LA: I wou£dn't want to do that. I'd hat€ to $€€ what ¥ou wou£d tr¥ to do to €xit€ ¥our$€£ƒ.
[12:15] LA: A bor€d Ar€thu$a i$ a bit oƒ a $¢ar¥ imag€.
[12:16] PH: Hee Hee. I do try to kee? myself entertained.
[12:17] PH: I'm going to go back to messing around with this quest. We've ?retty much covered everything I wanted to cover in this brief hello trolllog! Anything you'd like to add before I go off to ex?lore?
[12:18] LA: On£¥ anoth€r €xt€ntion oƒ thank$. ¥ou'r€ a gr€at ¢onƒidant Ar€thu$a.
[12:19] PH: Awwwwwwww. Your moirail doesn't think so. >;)
[12:19] PH: Seriously, ask Taula about black romance! ?ractice being subtle!
[12:19] PH: Bye!
